What is asthma

Asthma is a disease that affects the trachea, which is the small tubes that carry air into and out of the lungs. Asthma is a very common disease and many people in Hong Kong have asthma problems. According to research data in Hong Kong, about 10% of children and 5% of adults have asthma symptoms. Asthma is not an infectious disease, but data indicate that the disease is genetically and environmentally related.

When asthma occurs …

When asthma patients are exposed to substances that stimulate the trachea, the muscles around the trachea constriction will cause inflammation and redness of the surrounding tissues, narrowing the trachea and increasing breathing difficulties.
